Hall of Residence Project

We revive a resource from our Mediterranean tradition: the courtyard. An oasis amidst the noisy urban environment, it becomes the private garden of a community that will enjoy the wonderful Valencia climate all year round.
Located in Alfara del Patriarca, we employ traditional brickwork with a contemporary design as the defining concept of the building. Brick for the ventilated facade on the main street of a village that still preserves the chimneys of the "rajolars," old Valencian brick factories from the 19th century.
Individual rooms for a residence that would accommodate 50 students. Each has their space, but all overlook the communal courtyard. Creating a sense of home is achieved by crafting the right atmosphere, with the comfort conveyed by natural light integrated into the architecture and furnishings.
We employ curved forms in the facade arches, the shape of the courtyard, and the helical staircases. They are welcoming and organic for the students' private oasis in the residence.
